Best known for her pivotal novel, Uncle Tom's Cabin, HARRIET BEECHER STOWE (1811-1896) will be remembered for helping frame the institution of slavery into a moral issue. Born in New England, this daughter of a Congregationalist minister authored more than two-dozen books, fiction and non-fiction. |
