Psychologist (graduated university of Amsterdam, 1965), freemason, father of three children, grandfather of eight, Erik van Praag, was born in 1940. He worked as a teacher and department head at the University of Amsterdam, as manager in a psychiatric hospital, as a psychotherapist and as a personal coach. As a business consultant his core activity has been facilitating and co-creating communities for organizational and personal learning He also worked in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Russia, Germany, India and in the USA.
Furthermore he is dean of The Edge, International School for Leadership and Spirituality (www.theedge.nu). He is also a management trainer and accredited facilitator of the Transformation Game and Frameworks for Change, and an accredited trainer for the two-day training of Essential Peacemaking/Women and Men. He is currently doing Peace Work in the Middle East.
He is the director of Samenwerkingsverband Persoonlijk Leiderschap b.v. (Personal Leadership Associates Inc.). This is a network of consultants and trainers who do the same kind of work and operate as a company. He is also the director of the Foundation for the Development of Global Leadership, a charity that supports the Hope Flowers School for Peace Education in Bethlehem.
He has written many articles and twelve books, among which “Room for happiness,” Spiritual Leadership and Earth Fever, Living Consciously with Climate Change (together with Jan Paul van Soest and Judy McAllister) are translated in English.
